The majority of the USA Education system is still using outdated methods that don't have students apply their learning. Other countries are blowing by us and the Gap continues to grow. I think the discussion about equity and equitable is one that needs to be ongoing and totally inclusive both at the site and district level. I would change the top down approach our current system seems to have. I would also like to look into where our resources, both financial and People Power, are being directed. I completely agree that the discussion of equitable education be an ongoing one. I think there will always be ways for more equitable education to exist, and that it is our job as an education professional to always strive to make the education system more equitable. At this point in time, we have a very significant amount of ground to make up in regards to equity for all of our students, but we must begin with the very foundations of education and make sure each child receives equitable educators, and equitable resources, so as to promote equitable opportunity.

I agree with your assessment. It is important that we as educators continue to offer rigorous, equitable lessons to all students in our classroom. Our job is made difficult by outdated policy and an overall unwillingness to accept that education needs to make some deep changes.
