Capstone Website Review
Saelee
I had a good overall first impression of this website. It seems her audience is teachers, she even addresses them directly on the home page. Also her Video seems to be directed at teachers who want to learn about digital tools and personalized learning. I think they were effective in presenting on each page. Color schemes and layout stay the same. There was a lot to read though. Since I didn’t read it all I wonder if there was a way to shorten some of the text or represent it in another way, like an info-graphic.
I did like the resource page. Nice and organized with logos of the programs. Gave me good ideas and direction for the different categories of references. The logos are even linked to the programs. Nice touch

I think her audience as the portfolio committee both students and staff of New Tech High to make the portfolio meaning ful again. The audience would also be teachers who want to learn how to use blogs to increase student engagement. I learned something that I want to try in my science classes with blogging so I think the website is helpful. It is looked colorful, and clear, I could see how she broke down the sections and explained what to do at each step. Very easy to navigate. I am not sure I liked the link to the online tools, it's one more click whereas Saelee’s brought you right to them.

I think the audience is intended to be teachers who are interested in game-based learning strategies. I could also see directing the students here to see the purpose behind game based learning and some resources. I think they were effective presenting the materials. I really liked the layout of the homepage. Very easy on the eye. The images are colorful and really pop against the white background. Homepage was not overwhelming and was a snapshot of what was inside. Wouldn’t the research go on the learn more page? Learn more page seemed a little lacking of substance. Resource page was fine. Didn’t blow me away but I did like how they linked to the papers and programs used. That is helpful for the user

Again I think the target audience is teachers. I am not sure it was as effective to presenting to the content as the other three. On the Learn More page It seemed I had to dig around for the content. At first I thought it was incomplete. I am not sure I would have found the good content if I had just done a search and opened the page. You had to know the good stuff was there. The Reference page was very visual. Nice touch with including the sound track.

About the Author
My name is Jeff Albertazzi and if you would have told my young self that I was going on my 18th year of teaching I would have laughed. School was always a “have to” for me growing up. I got good enough grades to stay on sports teams and Lacrosse is what eventually got me into college. It was there that I become a learner and not a student. Sure I had to take classes to fulfill obligations but I saw Environmental Science as a way to make a difference and impact in the world. And I got to be outside. The learning process for me transformed because I was engaged and had purpose and our professor let me pursue that passion. That’s what I want to bring to my middle school students.
I stumbled upon the teaching profession by accident. When I graduated college my sister, a current NVUSD teacher, mentioned they needed someone to go teach science on Mondays to fourth and fifth graders at Napa Junction. I quickly fell in love with teaching science to kids and proceeded to get my teaching credential. Soon I found my home teaching Middle school science and math and haven’t looked back since. Now as a father I feel obligated to better the world for my daughter and teaching provides this opportunity.
Recently I have had the mind shift from teaching kids science to make a difference in the world to teaching them how to be critical thinkers and problem solvers through scientific thinking so the can have a positive effect on society
Two years ago I was sitting in a professional development given by Michael McDowell and something it really struck me was when he presented Hattie's effect size on student clarity. This is also about the same time I had been trying to implement digital platforms for students to communicate. This led me to ask “how do we get the students to communicate that they are clear on their learning outcomes, success criteria and how they are monitoring their progress toward these goals.”
For this I am grateful for The Innovative Learning Masters program giving me the opportunity to continue my education and mastering the craft of teaching, so the next generation of learners will be critical thinking, problem solvers.

Driving Question
Through this program, my driving question has changed and morphed from the research paper to now. The one thing that has stayed consistent is the focus on student clarity.
Going through my action research on developing learning maps for students to show they were clear on the learning objective and the success criteria and also how they would self-assess their learning and measure their progress. I found that using the digital platforms that related to the student's interests were a valuable tool and we could break down the barriers of the physical classroom.
As I moved through this program and learned about Tpac I wanted to focus on implementing technology to enhance student clarity and blending with the pedagogy of developing a growth mindset learner.
So My Driving question has morphed into “How can digital platforms help students gain clarity on the learning objectives, success criteria, and provide a way to monitor their learning progress?"
My audience is ultimately my students. It is about their learning. I have found that I am my own audience as this learning was to help me become a better teacher. Also, my colleagues as I have found some success that I could share.
